Introduction
In Smith et al. v. Apple Inc., plaintiffs claimed that certain Apple Watch models (Series 0, 1, 2, and 3) suffer from a propensity for battery swelling that can damage the device’s display, compromise the internal structure, or even pose safety risks. Apple denied wrongdoing but agreed to a $20 million class settlement to resolve these allegations.
